I know I need locktite for the bolts. Do I need any sealant around the used OEM manifold gaskets?

I didn't use loctite or sealant on any of my LSx builds.

Remember me?

Okay... on factory gaskets (or the aftermarket Fel-Pro rubber gaskets) NO sealant should be used. This is new technology, forget the gen I and gen II engines.

The intake bolts don't need loc-tite. The tension of the bolt heads when torqued against the plastic manifold is all they need.

Trust me.

I think they call out the loctite for sealing as well since the bolts go into an area of the motor where there is oil and oil vapor. Having said that, I have had mine on and off so many times I don't bother with loctite any more and have had no issues. For the intake gaskets, if the car has a lot of miles you may want to replace them as they do take a set and they will be filled with dirt.

If the gaskets look good and sit ABOVE the manifold flange, they will seal without sealant. I have never used locktite on the manifold bolts and have never had an issue.
