Default Giberish on my dash DIC readout?

I had my battery unhooked, pluged it back on, went to start my car, & noticed "Giberish", (incoherant letters & a few #'s in no particular order) on my DIC display. Every button I pressed did the same giberish thing. I went back & unhooked my battery, then immediately hooked it back up, & my DIC display went back to normal & I could read it. Is this possibly a sign that my DIC button cluster on my dash is getting ready to take a dump on me, or might it be my computer? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It was Spanglish. Did you connect the negative side last?

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the battey. Leave it disconnected for a couple minutes. Once its reconnected, attempt to clear all the DTCs. Always disconnect the negative side first and reconnect the neg side last.

Thanks Bill,
I was disconnecting the positive side instead of the negative. I will take your advise, & reverse my procedure.

Check the battery's voltage level too. If its below 12.5, things aren't going to work right.

If you didn't, you probably applied some voltage to the display module without a reference (ground) causing the "Spanglish". Re-applying the power cleared it up.
