Well, after having the aluminum bezel rings since July '08, but being too nervous to rip apart the dash (and having visions of super-gluing my fingers to the gauge cluster) I finally completed the job. I recently ripped apart my passenger-side window motor to fix a stuck motor, so I guess I was feeling brave. Like all the others have said - the instructions make it appear to be much more daunting than it is - other than the gluing - didn't care for that part one bit.
I did this:
To turn this:
Into this:
All back together:
While I had the console apart, I finally installed my aux2car (also had since July '08). And ran the RCA jack into the center console by cutting a hole next to the power outlet.
All in all not very difficult, just time consuming
Great job. I've had mine in the car so long I had forgotten what the OEM dash looked like. The rings are a huge improvement. I do remember, however, the problems I had with the glue. Lesson learned, never attempt the gluing portion of this mod after consuming alcohol. I had little finger prints of super glue all over the black part of the bezel. Luckily I was able to clean it all off using a Q-tip and acetone/nail polish remover the GF had laying around.
Just did mine too - love the way they look - they look soooo much better in person than they do in pictures!
Hard to explain but it is true Nice job
Thanks,Matt
Matt you said it - the pics, no matter how they were taken, don't do it justice. They look so much better in person! Thanks for the kind words on the install. Too funny about the fingerprints. That's what I was expecting to have happen - even without drinking!
Very sharp looking, i thought of painting red on mine instead of O rings.
I think I read where a forum member did just that but used silver paint. He said it was fairly easy because you follow the rim line. Seems like a nice solution.

I used a silver paint pen on mine. It was very cheap, easy and turned out very nice. At night with the light on, the silver kinda glows purple. Nice touch since I have blue LED's in my interior.
