Default Thinking about a supercharger.

I have a 04 vert. For mods so far I have done Long tube headers, vararam, smooth tube, 3:42 gears,x- pipe ,Borla exhaust and had it tuned. I am thinking about adding a supercharger. What kind of horsepower gains can I expect and ballpark what will the job cost me. I have a stock automatic tranny. Will the tranny hold up or do I have to beef it up. I don't plan on drag racing much. Mostly just want the extra horses on the highways when those idiots in the rice burning cars think they have a chance to run with you.

With the East Coast Supercharging Kit you can have 900+ rwhp if you want. But for starters on the stock engine 550rwhp is a safe level, which is done with a restrictor plate. Remove the restrictor plate and add a smaller pulley is all you need if you ever wanted to step it up.
(that's what I did, still working great after 5 hard years)

Your stock trans. is hit or miss. Some last a long time, so don't.

Give ECS a call, they can answer all your questions.

You can probably expect about 450- 500 or so rwhp on a stock block (give or take some HP) after you put the SC on. Could be more or less just depends on tune and other factors. The life of your Tranny is going to depend on your driving style. Do you have an A4 or MN6? I would definitely start saving for a Trans as once you start getting north of about 400-430RWHP time to upgrade. Youre going to want to enjoy that new power when you first get it.

I've seen folks blow all the$$$ on the kit, and then blow the trans, then you have a nice powerful paperweight sitting in the garage until you can get the trans done

Don't do it. It starts FI madness. The one that goes like this.

Wow this thing is fast
You know.. not quite fast enough. Time for a smaller pulley.
Really should go forged. Yeah I like it.
OOPS. Clutch taking a crap. Which clutch. Hmmm
Really can use a new blower cam. Lets see what one, springs, rockers
Trans wont shift. Level 5 maybe. Yeah, thats the ticket.
I ought to lower compression so I can put that 1" pulley on.
Nope.. not enough. stroker time

Go back to thinking about a supercharger, or a TTi turbo.

I have a A4 tranny. How much should I budget for a Supercharger and How much should I expect topay for the tranny work. I have a Corvette shop near me that does my work and I have not talked pricing with them yet. I was wondering ballpark what it will cost and when I have the funds

That just cracked me up. I have a thread going about possible h/c upgrades vs going C6Z etc. This is exactly why I am being careful which path I go. It can be a vicious expensive cycle.
