Default Headlights different speed

I have a 2003 and the headlights open and close at different speeds. One takes twice as long to open/close than the other. Is this the famous plastic gear problem?

Mine started doing the same thing and within a few weeks the dreaded grinding of a broken gear. I bought the gear kit for about 65.00 and it took me about an hr to do the repair....GOOD AS NEW!

Did you use the plastic or metal gears?

Everyone suggests using the metal (brass) gears. The plastic ones are fine, but eventually the heat in the engine compartment seems to dry them up till the teeth start breaking and eventually fail.

iternesting feedback...that makes sense to go with metal due to the heat build up. Thanks for the response. I shall remember this if/when this problem occurs on my 98

Corvette Central has a complete kit with the Brass Gear for 51.00 plus
shipping. I got mine at Corvettes of Houston which was a bit more expensive but I didn't have to wait on the part b/c they keep them in stock.
