Does the brightness change when you turn on the headlamps? I ask, because there are two different brightness controls for the HUD depending on if the headlamps/parking lamps are on or not. When the lamps are off, the brightness is controlled by the light sensor at the top of the DIC buttons...it also controls the brightness of the DIC and HVAC controller as well as the HUD. When the headlamps/taillamps are on, the brightness control comes from the dimmer slider on the hud controller.

This would be a very unusual problem if its as you describe

Can you take a pic and post it up?

Theres a declutter mode to get rid of some info. Your owners manual explains that. The only other time I can think where the display is flooded is when the sun strikes the lens. Trouble is that only happens in certain light conditions at certain times of the day on specific headings. The display dimmer is separate to the declutter function.

I'm struggling to think of a situation where the projector would be in a "test mode". Have you had any work done on the dash such that the light shielding around the HUD could have been damaged. That would let light into the HUD unit???

It stays on test mode all the time. No matter of any ambient light
