Just yanking your chains guys, I made it myself. BUT, it does work like a charm on C5, C6, Bilstein and probably other shocks both front and rear.

You dont want to rent that tool out ...do you?...LOL

That is a sharp looking tool and would proably make it a LOT easier job. (But my zip ties were free )

Second time around would be a breeze

OK, I'll do a post later today with the title "Easy Shock" and I'll give more measurements and pictures.

This tool was practically free, I made it from scraps laying around the shop and bought the 6" bolt.

If that's the case, throw another one together and I'll pay for the bolt and shipping

If I tried to build one, it would probably come apart when I tried to use it.

Those shocks a long with the C6 ZO-6 stablizer bars made a big
difference. I had a stock (base) set up, so my ride is alot firmer
and turning is flat.

Had a couple of PMs about ride height change, so I'll just post it here.
From what I have read, it will settle back to it's original height after a few days, but for he record, I made very precise measurements before and after the install, and the changes were;

Rear +3/4"
Front + 7/8"

This was much less than I expected, and I have no reason to think that the car will settle back to original height after a couple of drives.

Geez I sure hope so. I was thinking about getting them but the stock C5ride height is already 4x4 looking above the wheels. Another 3/4" would make it look even worse. Please let us know.

Do you translate firmer to harsher? I drove a friends C6 Z06 and it was firm but the ride actually seemed smoother than my stock C5 ride.

I did not measure the before-after ride height .. but visually I'd say its a good 1/2" higher - put them on sat. and I think it has settled a bit but not back to the original height - my front is adjusted all the way down on the stock bolts (no cut bushings) so I hope it drops back more. Will report back. As far as the ride, I definitely like the feel of the shocks - yes firmer but not at all harsh - and No float at all ... just right combined with the c6-Z51 sways.

Seems everyone is using the C6 Z06 shocks on their C5's... I though I saw a few posts/threads on using the C6 Z51 shocks, did a search, but couldn't find anything... I just picked up a set of new take off C6 Z51 shocks and swaybars for my C5... haven't installed them yet, I hope the improvement is as good as with the Z06 pieces...the swaybars sure are a lot bigger than stock C5...
Didn't someone say that using the old bushings from the C5 shocks would maintain the stock ride height?

Thanks for the referral. I certainly appreciate it. I would be happy to help anyone out with a set of shocks.

Hello all. New to post here. I just bought a '97 from a forum member. I would like to lower the car some more and was wondering if the C6 Zo6 shocks are shorter than the C5 Z51 shocks. The car is now lowered on stock bolts with 18/19 wheels. If I remove the front bolts, what are my shock options? Thank you!

If you lower it on STOCK bolts your fine with the C6 ZO6 shocks. If you slam it down your going to need a shock with a shorter rod.

Do you have any brands / part numbers for a shorter shock?

many on the forum use the Bilstein Sports which are shorter and firmer.
All seem to like them a lot on the slammed cars.

So should I look for Bilstein Sports for my year/make/model? It seems like if I ordered Bilstein Sports for my car they would be the same length as stock shocks. Does anyone have part numbers for the shorter Bilstein Sports?

Man, I just realized that I have hijacked. Please accept my apologies. I still need the part numbers though.
