Yes, and no. As far as I know, the "Caddy" lifters you're thinking of are from the C5/6R racing program, and aren't the same PN as std. replacement LS1,2,6,and 7.
depends on your mods and intended use. IF I was doing a lot of road racing events Id probably go with the caddy lifters. LS7 are fine for probably 80- 90 % of builds.
The Caddy lifter was designed to work under certain applications (i.e. WC type racing with smaller camshafts and single beehive springs). There have been some issues when using with larger camshafts (above .600 lift and double springs).
There is some additional info regarding this if you do a search on LS1tech forum. Most builders using larger cams are using Morel lifters.
I've had the "caddie" racing lifters in my motor since 2007. No issues, and I've had the PRs out lately, and everything, including swipe pattern looks good. I have early Trickflow heads with 7.9" PRs.
