Default Oil pan replacement

My question is; can I replace just the lower section of the oil pan or do I have to replace the whole pan? Dealers don't list just the lower section and I have found nothing in aftermarket parts. Thanks for any help, Don.

you must be speaking of the batwing oil pans. Yes, they are two piece. I would recommend going to a salvage yard and picking up the piece that you need or the whole pan , for that matter, and pay substantially less than new. Dropping down the existing pan for replacement will be a biyatch, especially with jack stands to raise your car and an engine hoist to hold the motor in place while you work underneath. Get new gaskets, of course.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. It is a "batwing" pan. All I need is the lower section. I will try some salvage yards this weekend. I do have access to a lift, but I really don't want to replace the whole pan if it is not necessary. I will keep you posted, Don.
