I have a vibration that I am trying to identify. When rolling to a stop with the a/c on I hear a rumble under the car as if the exhaust is hitting somewhere.(if a/c is off- not nearly so bad) It only shows up when you are slowing down(as if there were some back pressure against the engine and transmission). This vibration only shows up at 900 rpm, once you are at 750rpm and stopped there is almost no vibration. While drive at highway speeds of 70-75mph,you can hear what I would define as an iliptical vibration as it fades in and out as if this low vibration problems becomes a problem also at highway rpm's. If the car is put in neutral and allowed to coast at either speed the vibration problem is gone, I'm assuming that the torque comverter is the only item that is spinning when the car is stopped but the engine is still running, is that correct?
Thanks for any help!

Bill been there!
Although i have not had the back pressure style rumble you talk about at 900 rpms, I have had the vibration on the highway. It was caused by old deteriorated drivetrain couplers (this was about 110k miles) I also had really bad vibrations at all rpms when they sold me an out of balance/defective highstall torque converter. Check your torque converter bolts make sure they are tight. Have you had any tranny or drivtrain work done lately?
