Default Installing FAST, need help

Hi, I was wondering if you can re-use the stock manfold gaskets with a new fast 92mm intake manifold? By eye they look to be the wrong shape (stock rectangle while the fast has a bit of a curve to the top)...

Thanks!

You can resuse the gaskets but I would replace them while you have it apart. They are fairly cheap and the OE gaskets can be purchased from most parts stores. The OE gaskets work witht he FAST even though they are a different shape. You just push the gasket into the depression and they will take to the shape of the FAST.

Yep I just did mine (I changed the gaskets to the FAST ones) and yes you have to make them fit. Once they go in they will stay in place.

I would use the FAST gaskets. They are less money, and stiffer then the OEM gaskets.

I gave in and picked up a set locally as the old gaskets simply popped out as soon as they went in. The felpros were slightly smaller and fit great. Now I can't get the manifold to go all of the way back, it's hitting something and it's getting too dark to see what it is .

Interesting.

When I spoke with FAST Tech support they said you can use either one and the FAST offer no benefits over the OE replacement ones.

Install is done! I ended up buying some gaskets locally and they fit much better than the originals. The car now spins up to 3-4k on startup so I'm going to go get it retuned in a couple of days. There was one tube that didn't have anywhere to go (coming out of the passenger valve cover) so I plugged and zip tied it. Will that cause any problems? Originally it went into the tb.

You can put a small filter on it or tap into your coupler on your air intake. I went with the filter, but plan on putting it into the coupler. I wouldnt plug it. It needs that air flow.

3-4k on start up is not something that needs to be fixed with tuning. You have a vacuum leak.

Yeah, thats what the tuner said . I just need to find it now. Are there any reliable ways to detect where it might be coming from? The new TB is only held in by three bolts but I'm pretty sure the gasket is sealing (I'm going to pick up another bolt as soon as I can figure out the specs).

I picked up 16hp and 17lb, not great but not bad. The car feels MUCH more responsive, it doesn't bog down low like it used to. In hind sight I should have had it ported by Tony but it just wasn't in the budget. Here is the dyno sheet that Rick gave me:

Hi, here are the mods I've done so far:

vararam intake
vararam air bridge
90mm throttlebody
fast 92mm intake manifold
patriot stage 2 heads
thurder racing cheatr cam (don't buy, get something more aggressive)
ssac (ebay) longtubes
high flow cats
xpipe
b&b bullet catback
tune by Rick at synergy

If I could do it all over I would go with a more aggressive cam, other than that I'm pretty pleased with how it drives. Especially after adding the tb/intake, it really woke the car up!

Pretty much the same. My CAI is diff, Same ebay headers, stock heads, and a MS3 237/242 .609 Cam. I put down 413rwhp and I think 370RWTQ. We shall see in a week.

You will love it, while it wasn't the highest power mod it made the biggest difference in driveability!

Did you get the vacuum leak sorted out? Did you use a torque wrench to install the upper/lower as well as the entire assembly into the car?

Still have the leak, car sounds like it's chewing itself up on first start . I torqued it properly and it didn't quite line up with the heads so I kept bolting it down harder until the manifold was properly seated, way more than 89in/lbs... Could that have caused the leak? I can't imagine getting it too tight would cause problems but this is the first time I've installed one. Are there thicker gaskets out there that might help the fitment issue?
