I made a deal to get an LS1 block Sunday. Does anyone know if it will interchange with my 01 LS6? I plan on a basic rebuild but I would like a better cam. Any ideas?
From what I read they are basicaly the same so I'd say yes. Hopefully others will comfirm this and give you additional info.
As for a cam 224-228 581/588... LSA 114 is a very popular one and is considered small by many ,it will provide lots of low end torque and HP and will maintain close to stock divability whit the addition of a loopy sound. A good tune is required.
Consider LT's at the same time.
I would like to had that you have very good heads but whit any cam upgrade that you will consider you will have to replace you springs as they are only good for up to .570 lift and they are not all that great anyway " they brake ".
"The LS6 shares its basic block architecture with the GM LS1 engine, but other changes were made to the design such as windows cast into the block between cylinders, improved main web strength and bay to bay breathing...."
