I've had my Z06 for 7 months and here in South Florida it can be warm in the afternoon's. I just thought the Z was running a little warmer than it should. I really didn't know where that temp sweet spot was going to be, then the other night I had to drive the car slow (showing off driving around a car show). Anyway I jacked up the front this morning and took the compressor and blew out the AC condenser coil, it's in front of the radiator. Here's a pic of the crap I blew out of the coil. I couldn't believe I got so much out of the coil, and it even looked clean before I started. Went for a good drive after and the motor ran at least 10 deg cooler than it was running. I suggest that everyone check this out.

That's nothing, I once had a McDonald's fry container stuck up there. After you give it a good cleaning out, I would suggest installing some type of screen across the opening in front of the movable air dam to keep large junk from getting up there. I bought some aluminum screen sold at Home Depot for about $8 that's used in construction and is 2' x 8'. There's enough material to cut about 6 screens to fit. Sandwich it between the 5 screws holding the front bumper and radiator shroud together and it will stay in place.
I've been there and done that with both C5s I've owned.. Its unbelievable what these cars suck up... Both the ac and radiator coils need to be blown out at least twice a year. I promise everyone that in the next 2 months the most common posts on this forum will be the high temperature readings owners are seeing on the temp gauge.. It happens every year around May and June
bought my car new kerbeck chev driving home to new york saw something on the road got closer saw was lrge plaatic garbage bag blew in front of car checked my mirror no come out pulled over in gas station thought i was stuck on cat not there so continue temp went up 30o i knew where it went thenpullled it out amazing that big bag made that turn instead of going out the back of car
The C-6's are the same way. For both my C-5 and the C-6, about once a year maximum, I use either an air wand or a fabricated water wand to reverse blast out the debris from between the radiator and condensor. I always see a pile of rocks.
I couldn't believe how much stuff was up there and I had a dryer sheet up there. Apparently someone was trying to keep that area smelling fresh. It was crazy all the dirt and grass clippings up there.
It doesn't all get caught up in the front.. If you want another shock, pull your rear license plate / back up light assembly out and take a look inside your bumper
The plastic cover in the engine compartment over the top of the radiator /condendor hides a 1 inch space between both. In that space you will usually find more crap. usually grass and dirt.
Had my car overheat and found a blown fan fuse. Replaced fuse and when the fan started it blew again, took radiator fan apart and found a plastic bag had melted into a chunk of hard plastic. Cleaned all that out and replaced fuse and after the fan kicked on it blew again. Went and bought a new fan motor and fuse number 3 and it has been fine since.....
BE EXTREMELY careful when you participate in parades, I watched a couple C5s acting like vacuums sucking up streamers, papers, etc. that had been dropped on the parade route..

my golden retriever sleeps in our garage...so when i was taking the radiator out last week for the cam install i found out how much she really sheds, two good handfuls from each side of the condensor...fyi for pet owners
