Default Will this be OK to drive?

Briefly, 99 Vette. Here's what I did first... had a 3.73 diff installed in place of the weak 2.73. Added a Vararam and power duct, then got it tuned on a dyno.

Now... I installed the Melrose header system and Corsa Touring package. And, in the process of installing the LS6 intake.

My question... will this be OK to drive for awhile before I take it back to get it tuned? I don't want any holes in my pistons from a lean condition.

(When I do take it back for a re-tune I'll add a VMax ported throttle body).

Thank you.
Mike

Yes. It should be fine. You will most likely be rich rather than lean. Check your LTFT's before you add the headers. If there slightly negative to zero, your golden. After you add the headers, they normaly start to go positive and yur fuel econemey will start to suffer. I went from 30mpg highway in my 02 Z to 23-24 just by adding vararam and LT Headers.

I've already installed the headers so it's too late to check the LTFT. By the way... as much as I hate to sound ignorant... what is LTFT's?

Thank you for the information.

Your fine. LTFT's stands for Long Term Fuel Trims. Its a table in the PCM thats used to add or substract fuel from the air fuel mixture.

Any one in your area that has EFI Live or HP Tuners tuning software can plug into your OBDII diagnostic port and do a real time log of ALL of your engine and vehicle sensors.

Its an X RAY of your engines efficiency health. It doesnt cost anything to data log your engine other than finding some one who is willing to take a ride with you that has the software

Your LTFT's should be slightly negative. The more POSITIVE they are, the richer your A/F Ratio will be and the less efficient your engine is.
