Just re-tune it. I had found an extra PCM at a junk yard that I sent off and had re-tuned because mine was a DD at the time. You can get rid of several issues at once with the tune (column lock, 1st-4th shift, Delete Cats, etc).

I talked to local Z owner that also had the problem. I suggested he do the same and it worked for him (after driving for a while).

You can always send the PCM to ECS as well. They will hook you up.

I had Chuck tune my 06 coupe after headers, ported TB and VARARAM. The car ran good but lost fuel efficiency and the dyno results for the car looked like i was leaving power on the table.

After Chucks TUNE,,,, OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The car was a beast!

Before you SELL your VARARAM,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,give Chucks tune a chance.

Being a former MILITARY member,,,I know that you can leave your car in the barracks lot without any problems as long as your a barracks inhabit person. How long does it take your PCM to get to Chuck and back. 10 days???????????

Chuck will do you RIGHT! He's the only tuner that has ever IMPRESSED me. That says a LOT!

Wel, VR Tech called and we spoke in great detail about this and he wants me to do something that I have yet to do and it was not brought up before in any of the previous post, so I am going to try this out and see what the out come was. He also informed me that a custome tune was not necessary; not that it would not help, but the car in time will learn and that he has had a Z each of the C5s years. He knows that the '04 was a car that just didn't want to play by the rules and it took at lot of driving and something else that he wanted me to do. So I am going to try it tonight.

It involved some "interesting" pictures of some women doing some "interesting" things to a Corvette. Not exactly sure how it is going to help the Vararam, but my fingers are crossed for him.

Okay, I was informed that I needed to do some 3rd and 4th gear pulls at WOT and give the car's brain some info to make some adjustments too outside of the normal driving. So, I did. I was told to expect some surging and jerking but not as much and continue to give the car time and it will learn it's way through this. So far and 100 miles into the night things are slowly getting there.

Good luck! When I installed my Vararam I honestly did not feel a difference but..... My times at the track were around .2 and 2 mph better the first 4 runs vs every run I had made before! (around 30) I replaced another popular 'cold air' intake so these gains were over that! Hands down the best performing intake on the market. Hope you can get it working!

With all of the push for me to give it time and put more miles on it, I am working on it. After the other night (100 miles on it in a night on Oahu is a challenging), things do seem better, but still needs some more learning. I am trying guys. The VR TECH folks told me that a tune is not necessary, the car just need time and miles (including some spirited driving).

Damn, 100 miles of spirited driving... By the time the computer learns to counter the extra air you'll have spent enough money in gas to have paid for a tune.

Stephen (ENGLANDGEEN) tuned my 02 ZO6 when I drove to Bowling Green for the Cruise In back in 07. I have extensive mods on my 02 Z and he got it running excellent! 450 RWHP! His shop is in Texas. If you live near TEXAS, EG will fix you up. They have a BRAND NEW shop and state of the art Dyno!

I live in the North East (CT). Corvettes of Westchester (Chuck ) is only 95 miles from me. Hes the best there is close to me. Phenomenal shop! He just got a brand new Dyno. Chuck tuned my wifes 06 Coupe last summer. The only things that I have modded on it are, LT Headers, Ported TB and a VARARAM. After Chucks tune, the car runs superb. The throttle response is amazing and my fuel economy went from 23 highway cruising to 28. Have not had it dynoed yet. Chuck travels from state to state and tunes numerous cars. He even tunes in different countries!

So,,,, yep,,,I brag about BOTH of them. There both are great people.
Your going to get a great tune from either of them. Each one stands behind their work, they don't lock their tunes and the both have fantastic personalities and excellent reputations! If your having issues with the tune, they made for you, they will fix it. Both of them spend a lot of time fine tuning and perfecting the tune that they give you.

I cant think of anything bad to say about either shop.

If you want to know who's been tuning the longest, that would be Chuck. Chuck has also branched out and is tuning and modding the new Camaro

I hope that explains what I posted.

Just to ship something from Hawaii it cost a pretty penny, especially if I go over night. So why not pay attention to where I am at! Just shipping back and forth would be around a $100 if I pay for second-day air, insure it and ask for some sort of tracking. Plus the tune (Chuck quoted me somewhere around $400).

Bill, they have been cracking down here and smacking the yellow sticker of death on a LOT of cars (including a buddies corvette) on the windows for parking in the same spot for more than a few days. I am not taking a chance getting my car towed with a PCM in it. Parking on SUBASE Pearl is not much better than it was in Groton (when I was stationed there in the mid-90s). Something just recently went down here and they have been **** as heck about it over the last couple of months, so I am not taking any chances.

VR Tech has assured me that I don't need any tune, that the car's PCM will learn it and patience will pay off.

Not that I am providing a sob story or anything, but the fact of the matter is, I have never heard of this issue until now, now that I have this VR on my '03 Z and I think it is nuts that you have to tune a CAI. Plus, again I mention, I am paying to ship a truck to California in a couple of months to drive it cross-country with my son and I would rather spend the $400 or $500 bucks on him. My family lives in Florida and I am stationed out of Hawaii, so when I see them I want to enjoy them.

If I was back on the mainland with this issue, it would be minor to say the least. The lack of tuning out here is a headache and after this gets worked out I will hold off on other performance mods until I get back home.

So if you are just going to continue to heckle me about a tune, go right ahead, it is NOT going to happen.

BTW, the car is responding to the VR Tech's advice nicely and this all may pan out. I am not getting nearly the same issues I was previously, so patience is paying off. Thank you to all that provided me with advice on that.
