01Z with smoking problems!!
so i have a bit of a problem with my 01Z , i got it a couple months ago so i'm a new owner and haven't had this problem before. i'm very familiar with the lsx though, i recently sold my ls1 rx7 for the z and didnt have the problem with that, but on my 01 i have a smoking problem, it only happens on acceleration , there will be a billow of white smoke coming out. its not HUGE but its there, i can see it in the rear views. i did a quick search on the issue but didnt find too much on it, does anyone have an experience on this with an 01? i currently have 61k on it , mostly stock besides an intake and corsas, checked for bubbles and things in the oil neck but nothing, no leaks, no coolant smell, i dont lose oil or anything, it just smokes when i get spirited, haha, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know, thanks!

- I no longer added the extra quart as stated in the owners manual, I just make sure it is at the full mark prior to starting the event and check it in between sessions.
- Added an oil cooler, getting the oil temp under control (< 250 F) appears to have helped.
- Switch to an oil with lower volatility rating. I'm using MOBIL 1's 10W-30 high milage, it has a little higher viscosity than the standard 5W or 10w-30 and significantly lower volatility.
My car no longer smokes under acceleration on track days and the high oil consumption in between oil changes has disappeared.

I would also look at the posibility of excessive oil flow thru the PCV system. Remove the air filter/air bridge assy and open the Throttle Blade by hand and look inside the intake manifold. If the floor of the intake manifold is covered in oil, under hard acceleration, it will pull it out and smoke. If you see a lot of oil, a good quality catch can will not eliminate all of it but it will help!
Still Asleep has a very good point
That was my very first thought also. Coolant comsumption. Smell the exhaust and see if you can smell any traces of coolant.
