I have been having issues with my 2000 vette. Most days I get Service Traction Control/ABS. When I first start my car, the DIC just displays the mileage. If I hit a bump in the road, the Service TC/ABS comes on. Sometimes it come on w/out hitting a bump. I'm thinking I have a short. However, I pulled the codes today and this is what's coming up. C1225H, C1226H, & C1232H. What does the C mean? I know the H is history. I have had these codes for a while now. I'll check the black accordian tubing to see if any of the wires are lose, corroded or ???.
Shari, these are brake system codes, specifically the front wheel speed sensors. 1225 is left front excessive wheel speed variation, 1226 is the same for the rt front wheel. 1232 says the LF wheel sensor is open or shorted.
My guess would be the 1225/1226 codes are a result of the 1232 code; and the 1232 is due to a faulty LF wheel sensor or connection.
As I remember, the rudimentary procedure for troubleshooting the sensor is:
- get the wheel off. The speed sensor is in the hub area.
- Check the wire to the speed sensor for damage or a loose connector.
- Disconnect the sensor wire, and check resistance across the wheel sensor wires: 850-1350 ohms is good.
- if the sensor measures good, then the wire connections to the Brake Control Module will need to be checked. This gets pretty entailed.
But, it seems from reading herein, the usual suspect is the connector or the sensor itself.
Do a search on "wheel speed sensor repair" and I think you will find a lot of info. can't remember if the entire hub must be replaced to repair a faulty sensor, but a search of the above will detail that.
I have never seen a WSS not work. What fails id the FEMALE pins in that the harness or jumper harness (front wheels).
Front Jumper Harness:
Here is a picture of a good and bad female connector:
The GOOD one is on the left and the BAD one is on the RIGHT.

You can sometimes use a small pick and bend the toung back down so that it makes better contact with the male pin. I use an old male pin to test the female pin and insure that there is the correct contact pressure to make proper contact:
GM Sells a pig tail connector kit so you can replace bad connectors. Contact Gene Culley for the best price. Your local dealer will get $30. a pop.
I have been doing battle with my 99 Vert for quite a while trying to get rid of the ABS codes. It isn't enough to perform the continuitiy checks listed in the book. Every time I checked things with an ohmmeter it would be perfect. Start the car, back down the driveway and on comes the codes! I finally took apart the weather pack connectors as shown by Bill's post above and bent the little clips back into place and reassembled. Fixed! Apparently everything was tight enough to check fine while not moving, but the least little vibration would cause it to throw codes.
