I recently installed an new cold air intake system with K&N cone filters along with a new mass flow sensor on my 2004 corvette. After 20 miles the check engine light came on and stayed on. I looked at all connections and things looked OK. After returning home I switched back to the stock air filter system and the light immediatley went off and hasnt come on since. I was told when I purrchased the kit there would be no addition programing or other work needed. Is this normal and is there a solution? Will using the old stock MAF with the new cone filters eliminate the problem?

Reason: typo
Is it possible that oil from the filter reached the replacement maf wire causing the issue and after replacing the maf to stock you no longer see the issue?
Was the new MAF Stock or Granatelli or such. Aftermarket MAF units are a real problem with your tune or to tune in general. If you exceed your MAF working range 600+++ you could do an SD tune and remove the MAF.

They are garbage and many members have reported problems with Granatelli MAF.
Digital Trouble Codes. Search the forum there are several posts on how to pull the codes from your DIC(The thing that tell you the info behind your steering wheel). I'm betting it was your MAF. I have never seen a filter directly cause a code in any car. However If there is too much oil on it it can get on the sensor in the MAF and you can try cleaning it with Sensor Safe cleaner. The DTC's will tell you what the cause is!
