Default X pipe

Trying to not spend a lot on brand new exhaust for my c5.

Question:

Can i replace my stock H cross over with this universal magnaflow X from summit??

i dont see the point in spending 300$$ when i can order that and be done for under 100..

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-10791

Thanks!

I don't see why you couldn't. Just have to measure and make sure that the X from magnaflow is the same width as the stock H pipe. Does that make sense?

I wish I would have thought of that. Even with the labor of taking down the pipe, cutting, and welding in the X it would still be cheaper than buying a whole new setup. What kind of exhaust are you going to run?

No i understand brand doesnt matter, just wondering if i order this x pipe will it fit without having to modify my stock h.

I had cutouts welded up today and ment to ask my muffler guy about calling magnaflow for the part number

This was takin right after they were welded on. shortly after they recieved high temp black paint.

And for those wondering where my tips went, it was the base catback with black tips, so until i find chrome it will look like this.

I would expect you will have to at least cut the h pipe section out to install the X pipe.

Your photo confuses me some. How are you going to attach the tail pipes? Any more photos you might be able to share?

I'm planning on an X pipe, but not sure if I should weld one into my current stock system or just buy a premade setup. I've seen some on sale for around $238 shipped.

Going to sound really wierd, but im switching around the tips, the rears are now the front and the front are now the rear.

The rear will be turn downs since the cut out is blocking.

So standing behind the car will just have two 3in tips.

a lot of work on a stock catback but i refuse to have drone on my daily commute. Then on weekends ill uncap and let her rip!

Ahhh, I think I now understand what you are doing. Still, as you step through your process picture would be cool.

If I am understanding, the tips will come just aft of the three bolt flange that you will have capped for daily driving. Is tht correct?

Not sure, My goal is to have the exhaust clone borla straights, just two tips sticking out.

Just gotta figure a way to fit big tips on such small pipes coming from stock muffler.

Yea ill try and update this thread when i finally pick up some tips.
