Hello forks, Quick question.
Since I installed headers, i've noticed that the engine temp gauge reads a little hotter than when it have the stock manifolds. Are those high temperture resistant wraps any good to cool it down a bit. Or is there any other option? Thanks in advance for the help and tips.
Personally, I would not use header wraps. This dude with a camaro had header wraps, some oil got on there and it caught fire. Burned the car to the ground. Did you ceramic coat the headers? I did it on my WCC LT's and the temps are normal. That is what I would recommend for lower temps.
If you wrap the headers, it can cause them to deteroriate. Most manufactures will void any warranty if you wrap their headers. If you want to lower under hood temps, have your headers ceramic coated.
Headers should not cause "ENGINE" temps to rise. Check your radiator inlet for trash and back flush the air fins on the radiator with a garden hose. You will be amazed at the ammount of sand and dirt that will come out. That will reall help your radiator cool.
