Default Cold Start problem

Recently had some upgrades done (intake, TB, stat, headers, and exhaust). Had the car dyno tuned after parts install but something isn't right. Car is a 02 A4 coupe.

Now on a cold start, the car revs to 2500-2600 for a couple seconds before settling down to a more normal idle. If the car is driven till coolant reaches 187-190, and then turned off, it will start within 30-45 minutes without the high rev. Only when cold/cool does it start like this.

After any of these high rev cold starts, car seems to run roughly till warmed up (15-20 minutes depending on ambient temperature), and seems to want to fight the rear brakes. Kind of like it still wants to go even though the brakes are applied.

Once it's warmed up, it runs very well, but before the parts install it didn't act like this. It threw a P1514 before the tune, but hasn't since. Does it need to be retuned for low rpm from a cold start?

Thanks,
Bob

Thats a tuning issue that your tuner should correct. I doubt if the tuner ever messed with the car cold or he would have seen that issue.

Who is your tuner? Take it back and explain the issue. My tuners were able to easily correct it. Make sure that your car will also IDLE properly when you turn the AC on. Thats another tuning issue that will pop up when you least expect it. One day you go to use the AC and the car wont idle!

Thanks for the reply Bill. I had it tuned by Pete, at Performance Dyno in Concord, NH.

Cost was $465, but he dropped it to $420 because I paid in cash. Is the tuner you mention based in the Northeast? I wouldn't mind getting a different perspective. Based on the amount and quality of feedback you provide in this forum, I'm confident that anyone you recommend would do a first rate job.

YES! Chuck at Corvettes of Westchester. If Chuck cant tune it,,,NO one can! He worked wonders on my wifes C6.

Give him a call. He will most likely tell you what is wrong with it.
