Seems I have started having idle problems, and it seems to be worse on cold engine. A few months back I was getting 0171? code lean bank, someone said to check all air intakes and check the MAF(cleaned it) which I did (codes seem to have stopped), but the rough idle is still happening.
1. I heard someone say IAC Idle Air Control (does the C5 2002 have one and where at and is it hard to clean/check?).
2. One guy said he had a bad spark plug that caused same effects.
3. Someone said O2 sensors.
I guess I'm asking is if anyone else has had this problem, what was the fix, I guess I could start with the IAC? would be the lest expensive, and then go plugs and then sensors,, anyone have anything that they could recommend here,, Thanks a head of time guys.
Forgot to add its a 2002 vert, stock, changed to new red plug wires and iridium plugs after I got it..
From out here it would be nothing but a guess without more info. Things like how many miles are on the car, anything been changed from stock?
Start with the easy first! Has the car ever had Techron put in it? If not, put at least two of the 20 oz bottles in at two seperate fill ups as see if this improves things.
After chasing a bad idle through replacement of wires, plugs, cracked vacuum line, fuel filter, etc., my issue turned out to be carbon build up. Put some Seaform through it and it runs much better now.
Thanks for the reply guys,, it has 130k miles on it, I use chevron most all the time and run Techron fuel additive about every 3 months, I have a tank full of Chevron now with sea foam in it,, I only put new plug wires and iridium plugs in it about 25-30,000 miles back thats the only thing that has been done to it, it is stock..
