Thanks for the info! I am looking to go around 125-126mph. I currently run 118mph with a low 1.7 on 18's. I want to run 10's and I am waiting for Weld to bring out a new lightweight wheel this year for our cars. Also need to get a hold of a Fast intake.

My car is at England Green right now and has a low 240 cam in it(Mayhem). It will be done next week.

I figured that 125-126mph and a 1.50-1.55 60ft should be knocking on the 10 second door. That is really my goal. What DA was your 11.50 pass? Those are impressive numbers! I also have DMH cutouts on my car. EG gained 12hp with just the cutouts on a cammed ls1.

If you cut a low 1.5 and trap 126 that should be good for a 10, if you're not granny-shifting

Thanks, Chris. I won't be granny shifting. I need to get to a track where I can make more than 4 runs in the entire night, though. BTW, the car sounds nasty with that 24x cam and cutouts. Then its very quiet through the TI's. HP tuning box went south, so they are sending a new one to EG this weekend.

UPS tracking says our HP Tuners replacement box will be delivered this afternoon. Hope to get your baby street tuned and dyno tuned today. I will call you if I get it done today - as you know the street tune takes the most time.

600 ft was the DA for that day/time, the lowest I have seen it in oklahoma in a while. Be careful trying to run a 1.5X 60' on the stock rear, might end up popping it

Thanks man! I'm actually not on the stock rear end.

I'm actually on my 3rd rear end, and 2nd RPM one. Today, I just broke another driver side axle on the street with MT DR's. Ripped 2nd, and bam. I drive the car hard

I've decided to just stick with the stock 243 heads for right now, and add a Fast 90 intake to my setup. I'm hoping for 12-15hp to get my car to right around 450rwhp.

Decided to add another persons perspective to educate a few:

"The computer controlled numerical control machine (CNC) merely repeats the program and cuts the head the same every time. Now, this makes a few assumptions

1) The setup is the same
(machined part is in the smae place relative to the cutting tool)
2) The cutting tool is set the same.

CNC eliminates (replicates) a lot of the hand work done in a standard porting job, there will still be a little.

Hand porting can/is part art, part science. A good hand port person will use a flow bench to tweak his porting job to balance and optimize flow. This is going to sound strange..... but CFM is not CFM as the character of the flow matters to HP/Torque...

I remember reading an article about the guy that does a majority of NASCAR intakes, why one guy? well he knows the little tweaks that give the power "where" it is needed. "

If someone wants more info do a search on Greg Good ported heads. This guy is one of the absolute very best at his profession.

What exactly needs to be done to the 243 head for an NA 5.7?

Mark
The Lozano Brothers do an outstanding job of porting/polishing/flow-testing the 243 heads. They are pricey, though, at around $1450 per set...but with a mild cam like the Tony M, they normally flow 332 @ .650, and the heads look like a work of art. They are in New Braunfels, TX. They aren't a sponsor, so just google them.

Click the linky for an example.

ie not all porting is the same or even equal.

Personally I like heads that have great flow at .200 to .550 of valve lift, over great flow at .600 and above.

I have 243 TEA heads on my LS7, they opened up the combustion chamber and CNC'd the rest for my 427. Mild cam, nothing radical because it is automatic and it makes 500+ at the rear wheels (both HP & Torque). ECS built the engine and the heads perform very well for a slightly cammed 427. Go with TEA using 243's and you can't go wrong.
