Default drivetrain help asap

Well I am getting a intermitent vibration mostly noticed in 3rd and 4th and clank sound going into 1st and reverse. I thought it was the torque tube bushings but to my suprise the pilot bearing was thrashed. Is there a way to check the torque tube without opening it up. Dont want to tear it apart if I dont have to. I kinda on a time frame to get it back up and going.

Unfortunately no. You are only talking about another 1.5 hours of your time. If you have the drive train down, I'd take the time to do it. I inspected mine when I did my clutch, and I'm glad I did...found both couplers cracked.

Takes a few minutes to check the TT if you have a good set of snap ring pliers.

Basically, take off the huge snap ring at the rear of the TT and take a rubber mallet and wack the front spline a few times and it will all slide out.

Having it down as far as you already have I agree with the others that you really want to take the extra step and check the bearings and couplings now. Along with check the propshaft and torque tube system check all seals on the transaxle for small leaks and replace if any of them look iffy. It is a LOT easier to do them now. JMO

I agree with everyone else, now is the time to do it. A large set of snap ring pliers, block of wood and a hammer will remove the drive shaft.
