The car 2002 Vert all stock no mods, I replaced plugs using the Iridium plugs using the red AC plug wires I did this at about 100k, the car has been doing good until lately, now at 131K it has rough idle and stalling sometimes on acceleration, I used MAF cleaner to clean the MAF, no effect, I replaced both front o2 sensors with the Bosch, The air filter is clean and I use only Chevron 93 and on occasions I use a injector cleaner (Techron or Sea foam), Still same problem there is no codes either,, I'm confused which is not hard to do,,, Need Help.... Maybe a plug went bad,,, I'm going to check them today,, any ideas would be deeply appreciated.. Thanks guys
Are you getting any backfires when accelerating in P/N ?? It is not uncommon to have a plug close shut during installation or to not have the wire boot secured well--make sure the boot "snaps" onto the plug and coil when they are installed --Some non-stock plug wires are very tight on the coil and need to be lubed to make them snap on----If you are getting a backfire---most likely it is ignition related---Another way to know if you are having an ignition miss is that an A4 lock-up converter will UNLOCK when it misfires---If you feel the converter locking/unlocking at cruising speeds you have a misfire---
As mentioned--check fuel pressure----Also have you changed the fuel filter ??? Also an intake air track leak will cause un-metered air to flow into the engine--giving errouneous fueling information--OR a vaccum leak---on the manifold--T-Body or vaccuum lines----
The fuel filter on an 02 is located on the driverside frame rail in front of the rear axle area. You have to remove one of the fuel tank sheilds and maybe the left rear wheel to get to it. Remember to pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine to releave fuel presure before removing the filter. there will still be a little fuel that may leak so keep any hot shop lights away so as not to ignite the fumes.
