In regard to TSB's being "free" beyond 3/36... If your Service Manager is a good one (and pro-active) he/she can usually get GM to pay for the repair (sometimes known as a "good will repair").
My Blazer had a TSB for the Dex-cool breaking down that my selling dealer would not perform for me. I called Chevrolet and their representative basically told me to "go pound salt". My co-worker said her Blazer (same age/ similar milage) was fixed for free using the TSB. I called up her dealer's service department, and they fixed it :) . My truck was 4 years old with 30-something thousand miles on the clock.
Hey, guess which shop services the Corvette (and lets me watch and assist if I want to)??? :yesnod:
You can have any Chevrolet dealership perform a TSB for free if they agree to it. Good luck! :)
I called my dealer and gave him the TSB number posted at the top of this thread. He looked it up but said it was a bad number. Has anyone else had any luck with finding this TSB?
I called Fichtner and asked about the TSB. This is what I know so far.
Dealers get a disk once a month to update their computers with new bulletins. If this is a new TSB dealers will not find it on their computers until they receive and install their 4-1-02 update. To find the TSB before receiving the update they would have to log onto the GM system and search for it there.
Bob at Fichtner is going to do the search for me and I will talk to him in the morning. When I do I will post an update.
BTW there is dupplicate thread on this topic running on General Disscussion. So, if you do not see an update here tomarrow look for it there.

Fichtner found the same information C5-Tech posted above. They faxed me a copy. The bulliten is document ID# 868514. If your dealer can not find the 02-08-50-002 number have them search for the document ID.
The cost is $675 if it is out of warranty. If it is under warranty it will be fixed for free. GM basic gaurd and value gaurd extended warranties will not cover the cost of this either, however the major gaurd extended warrannty will cover this problem at no Charge
