Really depends on what you want and what you don't want. I'll be going with a 228/228, .568/.568 114 lsa, it's a small street cam. It should slightly liven up whats already there with good street manners.

manual or auto and what do you want your car to do ?

I like small cams as well. Run a 224/224 581/581 112+4 on a mn6

Dont forget you will need new lifters and timing chain when changing a cam.

Dont go too big, with out other mods.

Here are a few suggestions:

TSP-228R 228/228 588/588 112 or 114
comp cam 222/224 560/560 112 or 114
224/228 581/581 112 0r 114

LG cams

G2 224/224 580/580 114
G5 224/230 581/572 114
G5X1 228/232 588/574 112

pick up ~ 25-35 hp with these cams

228r 114LSA put a smile on my face. No bucking, surging, great street manners. You can hear the cam but doesn't shake the car if you have a good tuner. I was going to go 224r but no regrets.

No you dont "need" either one. Tons of guys do cams and reuse lifters. The heads need to come off for lifters. Theyre billet steel and really dont wear. The chain is a good idea, but if its got low miles on it, he wont need that either.

no you dont need, but it does help. at least check the shape of the current lifters. and going from a Z06 cam to a differnt cam, new longer rods will be needed.

I have the 228R on a 114
you can see by my sig it makes good power for a middle of the road cam. Of I was to do it again, i may have gone with a G5X1 or more likely 2

I guess this is your first cam---a cam virgin!! Don't do anything
until you decide what your vision of your vette is going to be.
Alot of the younger members want alot of cam because it is
their first one (so be it) . Experience is a good thing. You need
to understand that as you change from stock your vette is going
to act different. Do you want the new characteristics ???
Why do you want a cam?? All questions only you can answer.
Good luck and let us know what you have decided and why.

What year LS6 cam did you have? If you need a set of LS6 heads we have 3 sets in stock.

Send them to TEA or sell it and buy patriot or PRC heads. I think champion sells them call them directly. since you have 3.90 gears go over 4 degree of overlap, mine is at 4 degree, so something in 230/240 range with a 114 LSA should be a good one that compliments great with 3.90 gears.
