Default Oil pressure question

Ok i noticed my car was running low pressure the other day so i had a oil change done today thinking that it must be the oil was getting thin. After changing the oil at a cold start i see around 45-50psi then driving it around once it is up to temp it runs around 30psi at 2,000rpm's and then when sitting at a idle i see as low as 10-12psi not sure what this is since the motor is not making any weird noises and i tried the turn your key on and see what it reads and when i did that it said 2psi then dropped to 1psi but didnt go down to zero. Not sure whats going on any ideas? I have a built LME408 motor with a procharger on it.

This is low oil pressure right? i know that around 30 or so when driving around 2,000 rpms isnt to bad and if i get on it alittle bit it does go up alittle bit but not a ton. Just wondering what could be going on, the oil pressure just seems low to me. Any input here?

Just went out and tried a couple things to see what was going on.

When cold first start up its 50-55psi
When the oil temp is 120ish the car is running 28-30psi at idle
when the oil temp is 189 the car was running 14psi at idle. If i reved it up in neutral to 2,000 rpms it would be at 30-31psi. The more rpms it keeps going up, seems to do 10psi per 1,000 I use mobil 1 5w30.

Just looking for some information. should i go to thicker oil. Im not sure what the car used to run it just seems low to me i remeber when i first got the motor it would run around 70psi when cold out and cold start it may still run that but the weather has been warm around 80 out and humid. I do have a ported and shimed ls1 oil pump.

Assuming your sending unit and gage are indicating correctly, you oil pressure is low. Hot idle (200-210 DEG F) oil pressure on both of my cars (LS1/LS6) is 30 - 35 psi running a MOBIL 10W-30. The high temp viscosity on the 10W-30 is no higher than the 5W-30, both are 30W at operating temps.
You may gain some additional oil pressure from swithcing to a higher viscosity oil but that is only masking the problem in my opinion.
Have you asked anyone at LME why your oil pressure is so low?

Well found out what it was. Its a bearing because i had some metal fillings in the oil filter when i cut it apart. Looks like the motor is coming out for a rebuild. Ill keep ya updated.

So much for the oil pressure sending unit theory.
