Pardon the similar thread but I need one gear head to another advice. I have a '02 Z06, cammed, LG long tube pros, 3" pipes w/small cats into Borla Stingers that sounded great with the other stock exhaust components - now I get a drone and I've wasted $thousands on a sound system I can't hear. Don't get me wrong - the sound makes my leg wet but too much for overall driving. I still want a snarl but it needs to be under control since I'm not.
Someone suggested the "Big 3" from LG. Looks great and LG says US made but my Vette mechanic say China and they don't fit well. He suggested Magnaflow but Magnaflow makes no adapters for 3" pipes.
I was going to try to find a U Tube sound bite on the Borla Touring but haven't. Borla makes the headers & pipes for LG and says the Touring will bolt right up. Need to hear 'em b4 I drop that kind of cash!
I don't want stock quiet for sure - just a compromise and lose the drone. The car ain't that hot but it puts out a little over 425 on the rear wheels dyno - don't want to screw that up either. I've made up my mind that I'm not doing any southern engineering under there (welding) - has to be stainless and a bolt up fit. I've decided not to go back to the stock TIs either.
I have the Corsa louder system on my 02 and it works just fine. No drone at any rpm and quiet until you step on it - then you know for sure it's not stock. Try and go somewhere with a lot of Vettes and listen to various makes and listen on the road in the car. This is really subjective. I'm done having weddings so you cannot dance at mine.
Bill - What brand are your headers, pipes and cat back? Looks very much like mine up to the cat backs. Your mufflers appear to be oval rather than smaller and round as the Stingers I have. Yeah - you want to be able to step on the loud pedal and feel and hear things start to happen. But I want to be able to leave my windows up and in 5th or 6th not have my exhaust interfere too much with my hero, George Jones on my amped JL sound system - please let me know on the above. bojangles5169@verizon.net
I think you'd love the Corsa Touring. It's very quiet until you mash the go pedal, and then it's definately NOT stock. Whisper quiet @ cruise, and the highest quality finish. Magnaflow would be about the right volume level, but it'll have a mild drone that the Corsas don't have. Once you do a cam, it changes the exhaust even more than the headers, IMO.
I HAVE LG STREET HEADERS/238/240 CAM ON 112 LSA AND JUST SWITCHED FROM THE B&B BULLETS TO THE CORSA. IT'S VERY CALM WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR AROUND TOWN. AS SOON AS YOU STEP INTO IT, IT SCREAMS FROM 3 TO REDLINE. GREAT SYSTEM !!!

Which Corsa do you have? I just installed the Corsa Xtreme last week. It sounds a little bit louder at idle and cruise speeds but screams at WOT. I love it and you cant even hear it over road noise when cruising at 95 MPH. My LG SS headers will be here soon but I expect it to stay about the same.

If you want to listen to music, go back to the stock exhaust
If you want to listen to REAL music, sell the stereo
That's what I told my aunt when she wanted to give me piano lessons back in the '50s and I had a '41 Harley sitting in the garage with straight pipes! (Da%$ - wish I still had that Harley)

That's because you are young - count your blessings - not your money or your toys. Count your friends and what you can do for them to enrich their lives. Just wait - life is like a roll of toilet paper - the closer to the end you are, the faster it goes. I'm still 30 between the ears and still speed shift and red line my Vette regularly (and that's after 5 heart bypasses and 1 brain surgery - yep, they found 1).
Had my heads/cam installed & my corsa xtreme sounds even more bad a$$, quiet when you want it to be & a screamer when you get on it! here are a couple clips of mine:

I would check out the XSPower catback mentioned above. Half the price of the Corsa system and made in America.
I was really happy with the 2.5" system I added to my Z, but I'm otherwise stock. There was a big review thread, at least one guy swapped over to this from Borla Stingers (to eliminate drone) and was very happy with the change. They make a 3" system too I think.
For those who want a mellow bump in exhaust sound do the Zo6 ti catbacks really have a difference over conventional c5 mufflers or could it be the Z's additional hp making it seem that way. I'm looking for a very slight improvement in tone and not looking to spend $1400. Have a safe & happy 4th

post a thread in the for sale wanted section for corsa exhaust and wait for people to send you what they have for sale. You should find a performance shop around you so you can listen to a couple of systems. The corsa will be drone free like stock while around town. When you put your foot into it, it will wake the streets up.

Thanks - I contacted them - 3" proto has arrived and been tried - said they would go into production soon. The price for the 2.5" is absolutely righteous! The report on the 3" proto was no drone - I'm sure that was with their headers and pipes though. My only concern is what will it sound like w/LG up front and theirs in the back - shouldn't be that much difference. 3" not priced yet but if it's not much more than the 2.5" it's sure worth a try - unfortunately I've completely wasted a lot more than that. Try depreciation on a brand new 40' diesel pusher motor coach that was in the dealer's shop for 9 of the 1st 12 months owned - depreciation was like a rock - never did fix - got a lemon law attorney involved and salvaged part.
