Default MAF sensor question

First, I have a 99 Vette. I'm getting ready to install a Katech ported throttle body and my mechanic suggested that I also change the MAF sensor for better flow to the throttle body. He also suggested that I use a MAF sensor from an 04 Vette. During my investigation I noticed that some discriptions said the 04 TB had a (5) pin connector. So I looked at mine and it's a (3) pin connector. I haven't been able to ask the mechanic about that, yet.

My questions for clarity... does the 04 TB have a (5) pin electrical connector? If so, do I change my wire connector (if possible)? Or, do I just buy an aftermarket MAF sensor?

Thank you.
Mike

Save your money!

Just take a sharp tipped tool and remove the screen from your MAF. That is the least expensive mod you can make.

The 99 has the air temp sensor separate. You would need to rewire.

A ported TB is a waste of money, IMHO.

there is an adapter that allows a 3 pin to connect to the 5 pin (or vice/versa) try Ecklers. Don't even bother taking out the screen on your MAF...waste of time....your intake can deliver all the air your engine can handle just the way it is....this has been beat to death many times over the years here. put your $$$ into other mods.

Save your money and run the MAF you have.

For a little more than the cost of a new MAF you can get a CAI like Vararam (around $250.00 on sale) and a mail order tune ($149 at ECS)which will give you a much greater increase in power.

Default MAF sensor question

I do have the Vararam with the Power Duct. Plus, a LS6 intake, Melrose header system with free flow cats, and Corsa Touring exhaust. I have the Katech ported throttle body also, I just haven't installed it.

And awhile back (before the Melrose, Corsa, LS6 intake) I had it Dyno tuned. Plus, I had DTE install a 3.73 Diff. This car really has come alive since I bought it.

After I get the MAF sensor, I'll install the MAF and TB, then take it back and get it dyno tuned again.

Thank you men for your input.
Sincerely,
Mike
