Default borla straight pipes?

http://www.corvettegarage.com/produc...-corvette.html

Theres a link to the borla straight pipes. Im considering buying that to replace my hooker cat-back. The reason is bc i want something louder.

Anyone here have any opinions on the borlas? Also, what do you guys suggest i try selling the hooker system for?

They'll make noise if that's what you want. I have a pair in the basement & one pipe has a cracked weld.

Good to me, but then again I wear ear plugs under my helmet.

Might as well take your stereo out, wont be able to hear any music.

and your cell phone, wont hear it ring

forget any conversation with a passenger

and that is not even at WOT just light crusing speed

I have a sound meeter and it run 105 dbs, 2500 rpms idle at 50 feet. about 103 dbs at WOT on a fly by at 50 feet.

Most towns have sound ordinances and race tracks do as well of 96 dbs or less.

That depends on your set up and tune.

I run TPIS LTs, Random Tech high flow cats and x pipe then straight pipes.

My cam is a 224/224 581/581 112+4 advanced 28* of timing.

4:1 93:100 octane mix

Solid motor mounts. At 750 rpm idle the whole car shakes

Sounds like a MUCH bigger cam then I have.

I know you are looking at the Borla Straight pipes, but to give you any idea, I hit 129.4 db at an exhaust contest when my Z06 was stock with SLP loudmouths. Now I have a big ecs blower cam, kooks longtubes and the SLP loudmouths and it is right at the point of being way too loud. Actually IT IS!!! I will be the first to tell you that I love a great loud sounding exhaust. I'm used to glasspacks, so when the car was stock with the loudmouths it sounded good. Now, you might as well do what AU N EGL said about taking your radio out, etc, Lol! I am trying to bear with it because I love the way it sounds! I am hoping that adding a partition will help a little. I can be heard 1/2 mile away just when I crank the car up! Good thing I live in the country, lol.

1/2 Mile ? Wife hears me a Mile to Mile and a half when going though the gears out between the cattle farm

Partition? oh right drop that 129 dbs to 110 dbs

Loud is LOUD

I do not drive my car much on the street, it is track day car. We have a stock 04 vert for street driving

I have Stingers on mine with a 237/242 .609 cam on a 112LSA, LT's, X-pipe, and no cats. My wife always knows when im on my way home. I've never been pulled over for it being loud.

Lol! Yeah that is just startup. I'm sure I can be heard well past the mile range when I get on it. That's what I was thinking with the partition. Not much help, lol. I guess it is good that mine isn't a DD.

It'll be slightly quieter than an open X-pipe.

the whole fricken house shakes, the cats run and hide, the dog thinks there is a thunder storm out side, when I start up the car.

Neighbor once asked "what exploded over there?"

Seems to me you don't really know what you're getting into; especially mentioning you still want to hear your radio. My guess is you'll have a set of stingers on the car before long.
