Feel free to give us a call if you would like to discuss any options, or work needed, we are located in central NJ which is roughly an hour or so from you. Research any of the shops you would like to use, google etc, and make your decisions from there.

My question is, why is it so much more for a COW tune? I am considering getting a tune done and both shops are near me, I'm leaning more towards ECS because the price is reasonable. What is so different about the tuning process and or software between the two, anyone care to elaborate? Members or Venders.

Thanks.

You get what you pay for..... The CoW Tune has always been sooo popular for many reasons...

Besides the performance, we always have had a policy of free re-tunes.

What that means is, AFTER CARLISLE you're welcome to come to our shop

ANY TIME for a FREE-RE-TUNE and EVALUATION.

Carlisle is not the place to be road testing TUNES....It's busy and lots of traffic...

and you can not use a dyno for this type of testing.

Besides, it's busy there and for all the people we need to take care of it's just simply impossible

to give EVERY person our fullest attention.

That's why we offer TOTALLY FREE RE-TUNES! You come on over and we fully road test your tune

and make any adjustments you might need or want for FREE!

To be honest, once most customers drive our tune (ESPECIALLY the AUTOMATIC CARS)

they end up at the shop for other mods anyway which usually require the FREE RE-TUNE!

So, any time we modify the car for you in the future, you still PAY NOTHING for the TUNE!~

It doesn't matter if you come back for a cam, supercharger, or stroker motor.....

As long as you come back to us...I'll do the re-tunes for FREE!

Stay TUNED!
Chuck CoW

I cant speak for others, but we have proven our tunes on both the street and track for power and most importantly, longevity. We have done so many at this point that we have been able to lower our prices to a more reasonable rate, while still being profitable for us as well.

I would not lean towards either on price alone, but being that we have proven records of our tunes at the drag strip and road course, as well as a more reasonable price, it seems like a no brainer to me.

I've never done business with Chuck COW, so I can't say anything one way or the other.

I have done lots of business with ECS and they have always treated me well and done an excellent job.

Doug, Chris and the guys at ECS will be up at Carlisle if you plan on going. Stop by their both and talk to them and then go visit Chuck.

Then you should be able to make a decision on where you want to go.

I have an 02 ZO6 and a 06 C6 MN6 Coupe. I had numerous tuners over the years tune my cars. I had ECS tune the 06 Coupe a couple of years ago at Carlisle. Chris and Doug did a great job. The car ran great. Cant beat a $99. tune. We didn't road test the car so it still ran a bit rich but the seat of the pants performance was great.

Last year I met Chuck at a show and we talked. He gave me a challenge. He would tune my 02 ZO6 or the 06 Coupe and if it didn't run better, he would re-install my original tune and I would not owe him anything.

My wife told him,,,Your tuning my 06! So, I let Chuck tune my wifes 06. (like i had an option) My wife and I went to his shop and he tuned the ECU and then road tested/fine tuned the ECU. He spent quite a bit of time on the road fine tuning and when he was done, it had significantly more throttle response, it no longer ran rich and there was a significant performance increase.

My wife drove it home and the first highway on ramp surprised the hell out of her. She kicked the rear out shifting into second! All she said was HOLY SH^$! She was VERY HAPPY!

We still have Chucks tune. The best part is, the fuel economy is outstanding. I still have not dyno tested it but, the additional performance is solid.

So,,,whats the difference between the ECS tune and Chucks tune?? The road tune and adjustments that take into consideration the dynamic adjustments that couldn't be done at the show. ECS show tune had great results and I cant say anything bad about it. Ive never been to their shop and cant comment on that either. Ive been friends with Chris and Doug for 5-6 years. There both great people.

I have been to Chucks shop and its amazing. His technician treated my car like it was their own. I picked Chucks brain on tuning questions I had and he had more knowledge than I could ingest. The offer of life time re-tunes, makes this an unbeatable deal.

Were very happy with the COW tune and will go back in a heartbeat if needed. The personalized service that Chuck gave me when I was there and the results of the tune were second to none!

Now I'm going to have to see if he can milk more power out of the ZO6.

Bill this is somewhat what I would expect when comparing a mail tune which took under 30 mins to a street tune which someone "spent quite a bit of time on the road fine tuning" (Although I will state most of our customers see increased fuel mileage as well as increased performance with the mail tune so I am surprised your fuel economy went down). This is the reason you will see ECS always state if you can make it to a tuner then do that over a mail order tune. Of course some people are not close to a tuner and other people are only looking for some increased performance and better fuel mileage so the mail order tune is perfect for them.

To the OP:

Although you find you and your car have our full attention at Carlisle (you are allowing us to modify your car you deserve our full attention) we are only spending a short time with you and we are not street tuning it so we feel the mail order tune is priced appropriately. If you want to come to Carlisle and have a dyno tune it will take us longer, it will cost you more and the results will be even better. If you want the best tune then come to the shop and have your car dyno tuned and street tuned. You will fine no better tune than this, but it will cost you more.

ECS and ECS customers own the fastest FI cars in the country as well as some of the fastest NA cars. ECS Customers also own some of the most beautiful cars in the world and this is proven by awards they have won at numerous shows and the many magazine covers they have made. ECS is innovative and this is proven by them having their own SC kit which time and time again proves to be reliable and net fast cars. Even my own LS7 in a C5 was one of the first on the market and I have been road racing it for years now. ECS is also customer oriented and you will not see them suggested something they have not proven to work (many times on their own car first).

This brings me to another point. Everyone at ECS owns a corvette and runs it hard. Doug, Chris, Mike, myself and the shop guys own corvettes. Doug attends every ECS Corvette challenge (yes ECS sponsors a 1/4 mile race event and as a bonus once a year a High Performance Driving Event) as well as many other 1/4 mile events and RR days. Chris and Mike can be found many weekends at shows helping customers with their cars or just being their for support. Both of them can also be found at the ECS challenge or at various HPDE venues. I do 15-20 HPDEs per year and while there I support our growing RR customers. Here and there you will even see number 67 at the ECS challenge. Us RR guys always love to give the 1/4 mile guys a challenge although I admit the ECS Challenge guys are some of the best 1/4 mile racers I have ever met and I am not much of a challenge well until we make the turn onto pit road then I usually catch up

It may sound cocky to some for ECS to toot their own horn, but there were many years (which many here dont remember) where ECS had to work days and nights to prove themselves and they did it by building fast reliable cars.

OP I know you will be 100% satisfied with ECS from day 1 of your modding until the day you hit over 1000rwhp if you so chose to want that much HP.

Best of luck with all your plans.

Don't limit your research to just this forum. Do a google search on each of the vendors and you will find a ton of info. Good luck.
