I just took my 91 vette out for a drive after it set idle for about 8 weeks. I had to charge the battery, although it wastn't totally dead. Just too dead to turn over the engine. Ran great for the first drive. Took it out last night and it is missing badly. You can also hear it knocking as I pull into the garage. An ideas from you all as to what it could be? I'd sure appreciate any help you can give me.
Re: Engine miss after storage-- help (WhatEverLolaWants)
You say knocking as well? Ticking up high (lifter/rocker) or knocking deep within? I storage I have seen valves stick when first turned over and piston hit's and bends valve. Result is a miss on that cyl & a definate ticking. Fix is pull that head & do a valve job.

WhatEverLolaWants,
Hook your inductive timing light up to each ignition wire until you locate the cylinder which is misfiring. Pull the plug and put in an old one that you have saved from a previous plug change. :yesnod: If you have a compression gauge, take a reading on that hole while the plug is out.
If the cylinder is still misfiring with the different plug installed, then replace that ignition wire with an old one that you have saved from a previous installation. :yesnod:  :D You do save stuff like that....don't you?
It should be hitting on all cylinders now. If not post back.
As to the knock.....hhhmmmm....did it knock the first time out when it ran good? Sometimes mechanics will short plugs out in an effort to identify the source of noises. It may be that when the cylinder is firing again that the knock will be gone as well. Just about have to hear it to make an educated guess. Maybe a wrist pin. High clearance on a rod bearing. Piston slap. Is the engine high mileage?
Good luck and hope it is something simple. Sometimes a piece of carbon can dislodge and stick between the electrodes in a sparkplug. If you have headers on her, be sure to look closely for a burned wire.
