Headlight gear bad?
I have read the DIY sticky--but before I buy the brass gear kits and tear into the lights here are the symptoms: Turned the lights to ON last night, nothing happened. Turned them OFF and tried again, this time only the left light came up. Off and on again and both lights came up and worked fine. No grinding noises noted. The car is an 03 with 70K miles but has been driven mostly in the day and has minimal "cycles" on the lights. Is this a gear problem, lube issue or something else?
while the headlights are raised, look down at the wiring harnesess under the headlights going into the motors...do you see any signs of frayed or stressed wires?
If those two check out...I say the stalk could be the issue. If it doesn't happen again and you can get them to raise manually...don't worry cause you won't be stranded but if those gears go bad/stripped...ur stuck if it's dark.
here's the fix for the stalk...you said you already read the one about the gear correct?
