I am having trouble removing the original spark plug wires from the original spark plugs. I am twisting it half a turn and pulling but they are stuck on. Any special tips on removing them. Can the heat shields be slid up the wire so the entire boot is exposed.
Unfortunately, there are no tricks. I have done heads/cam/clutch and the spark plugs wires were one of the most frustrating jobs I did. I now have the C6 Z06 GM wires that have the 90 degree boot. My stock wires, while whole, are in a box.
Sounds like you are doing everything correct, just add some pull.
Get the RED GMPP WIRES Look Great and are about $55
I got my originals off without destroying them but went with the RED ones from GENE. The original radio shields fit and they look great.
Go for it. Needed a $4.99 swivel socket for good old #7 drivers side next to PS assembly. Got that at AutoZone. Other plugs were just plug socket and various length extentions.
BIGHANK
Yes I am getting new wires from the dealer. Priced them at an auto parts store and dealer matched the price. I will pick up the new wires today. I guess I can totally destroy the old ones after the the new ones are in hand. I was thinking of just cutting the boot off the old plug enough to get the socket on the plug and then remove the plug with part of the boot still attached.
Get you a a small needle nose Vise Grip. Use it to lock on to the heat shield with one hand and pull the boot/wire with the other. Your still gonna destroy some wires but the will come off. Don't forget to use some dielectric grease for new wire install and ant-seize on the plugs.
