It's not that it is physically difficult to shift, but that the throw is very short.
I don't mind so much, but my wife complains about it, so I thought I'd look into what other options are out there aside from going back to a stock shifter.

Never a good thing....when the wife complains about the length of your shifter.......
I tried the Hurst and found it tiresome and had other issues with it as well. I have since installed the C6 shifter and love it. My wife drives the C6 shifter without issue.
Is there a difference between the standard C6 and the Z06 shifter, or are they the same?
The only real difference is the two bolt hole bushings. Some of the C6 ZO6 units have solid (metal) bushings in place of the elastomer (rubber) in the standard C6. I have the solid C6 ZO6 and like it very much. Some folks end up with shifter buzzing with the solid.
I have an MGW and I LOVE it, however I understand your problem. I just had a girl drive my car last week and she was using both hands to shift. I'd recommend either the C6Z06 shifter (I think after 09 all C6 shifters are the same, someone correct me if I'm wrong) or the RSD Snap Shifter. The RSD shifter is basically just a cut down Z06 shifter, but some people really like the feel.
Talk to MGW about a shifter with a longer handle. I've got one and it works well. From what I understand the new ones might have centering springs which would make it a little better.
Apparently, the Kirban shifter is a decent model too but I have not tried it.
You coul also try the anti-venom mod which removes some of the detent so it will slide easier between gears. I did that too.
Overall, I like the MGW and anti-venom combo but it becomes more of a "shift by faith" thing. I just push up and right and it will go from 2-3 or 4-5 no problem. More or less I just push or pull the shifter in the direction of the next gear. Anyone who tries to move up to neutral then and over to the next gate then up again will get lost shifting my car. There really is not much side to side with the MGW. The girlfriend was having a lot of trouble until I had her try just pushing it towards the next gear then she had no problem.
I'm think I'm leaning towards trying the MGW and ordering both handles.
Having been from stock, to a hurst, and now a C6 Z shifter....I'm done. The C6 Z shifter is outstanding, but it is a short throw, as mine was modified by RSD ........so she may still struggle with the length...even though it is very smooth.
C6Z shifter here...works great and was a huge improvement over the stock C5 shifter that I think came from the S10 pickup truck parts bin.
I thought about the MGW and the MTI six shooter, but ultimately settled on the C6Z for keeping a stock feel while still gaining slightly shorter throws (maybe 10%).

lionelhutz: I don't know when you bought your MGW, but mine had the centering springs and it was purchased in April of 2008.
It looks quite different than the one KrispyZ06 posted pics of:
I too purchased both lengths of shafts:
I ended up taking out the centering springs. They just made it too difficult to get to the reverse gate. The original didn't have any and I don't see that they are necessary.
I've never accidentally hit 5th when going to 3rd.
