Default Issues with stock Rod Bolts?

ok so I've been told by a friend and fellow vett owner, that the stock rod bolts are weak and will fail even when engine is stock and driving hard.
any one have any input on this
also i was thinking of going with ARP bolts, all I've ever used on previous engine build but I'm coming over from the import world so this is my first domestic as far as imports go ARP is the best, are they the best choice for my Vette? Im planning on shooting for around 500 WHP in the future
Thanks

Rod bolts were upgraded in around 2000, not sure of the exact year. If you plan on spinning it high a lot of guys change them. Although, I haven't seen but a few that have failed or have been reported to fail. You could do a search here and on LS1tech to see how many have actually failed.

The stock rod bolts are fine for every day [hard] driving. Now if you are going to mod the car shooting for 500+ RWHP that is a different story. Depending on what type of power adder[s] you are going to do, a bottom end rebuild could be necessary. In that case definitely use the ARP products they are first class.

It all depends on how you drive the car, and it's intended purpose. I dare say, the majority of guys are operating on a stock bottom end(including myself), and have made significant upgrades/power adders, FI, etc. For me, I enjoyed spirited driving, with an annual visit or two...to the drag strip..but I don't abuse my car i.e. smoking the tires with a cold engine, etc. If you plan on drag racing year round, or will participate in x-cross events, then addressing the bottom end makes sense.

You may also want to check out the Katech rod bolts if you decide to go that route.
