for the best bleed you just work your way starting with the caliper the FARTHEST away from the master cylinder then work your way to the CLOSEST

so RR, LR, RF, LF

Excellent! I'm going to take you up on this.

Give me a little time to get all of the new parts ordered, and then we'll set something up. I will, of course, bring the beverage(s) of your choice when I come.

I heard you need a Tech 2 to bleed your brakes. Any truth to that? I like to avoid the stealership like the plague.

Usually not. But, sometimes after a bleed/flush you end up with a long/softer pedal than you want and either excercising the ABS or having a Tech II excercise the ABS will cure it.

You're talking about a flush to pump fresh fluid into the brake system. I would think any order would work for that.

A flush is the same as bleeding except you keep bleeding until all the old fluid is gone. Just do it right and do it once..why vary on something like this?

A bleed and a flush are not the same unless you screw up and let air get into the system. The furthest to closest rule is to get the air out of the system.

The flush is just to get new fluid in the lines. Doesn't really matter which caliper gets new fluid first.

Do you need a power bleeder to bleed the antilock brakes?

I've heard this too! I had a Service ABS code scare a while back and am concerned a shadetree flush is going to leave a lot of oxidized fluid inside the maze of ABS pump and solenoid lines that are isolated from the rest of the system. Those ABS modules are unobtainable at any price now for the '97-'00s.
