Should I buy a 1998 C5
Just be prepare and understand that their may be some issues down the road, however everything is fixable.
Plus you are doing a even trade and your car has a salvage car as well.
or did I miss something.
Good Luck!

Check it out completely, try to get the seller to contribute to the new exhaust and smog test, or........ Move to Oregon and enjoy the ride!
We have NO smog requirements unless you live in the Medford/Ashland or Portland area! Also NO sales tax and 2 years of license is $75.
I love it here!
Stated you were new to corvettes, and the other members already loaded you up with tremendous advice on the how-to of evaluating your baby. Wish I'd known half of it before I took the plunge.
Buying any car (especially a corvette) is an emotional decision. In this case, you already know you shouldn't - it's not an investment, you'll pay more than you should or ought to and get less than you could somewhere else.
So. I predict you're going to buy the car anyway. She's gorgeous and you want to drive her.
Do you think it's any different for the rest of us? Stick around here and enjoy the friendship. I encourage you to get familiar with the stickies and the search feature. You'll need it.
Salvage isn't the kiss of death. Every car on the road is composed of used parts. But you have an expectation of quality and performance that is probably unreasonable in this instance. She rolled off the factory floor in Bowling Green as a thoroughbred - now she's a mutt. Can you live with that? Go test drive other cars so you have a basis of comparison.

This is why it's so important to check that car over carefully for residual accident damage. It could have been something minor but it could also have been a big accident with lots of repair work done and some things not fixed correctly.

I know my self...seeing that car would have made me throw all of the advice I received out the window.
I will keep looking

THANK YOU ALL for your help!

Good decision not to trade by the way. By the way the cats aren't the only issue, the long tubes would not pass the visual if you took it to a stickler type of shop. But it will pass the sniffer with LT's. I know for a fact.....if tuned that is.

Did you go look at it yet?
