The other day i went to turn the brights on and my headlights just shut off (the pop-ups stayed up). I put it back to regular and they came back on. Tried this several times and the brights will not come on, the lights just shut off.
I did a quick search and couldnt find anyone else post this. Anyone have any ideas what is causing this?
This is the first I've heard of this one but will guess that your headlamp switch is having issues and needs to be replaced. But, before doing that, check the fuses of course.
Thanks for the info guys. I think i need to find an online class to learn how to read schematics!! Maybe I will just get a new Multi Function Turn signal lever if everything else checks out.

There are two separate contacts in the switch. Have you tried both turning on the highbeams manually(stalk forward), and the "flash to pass"(pulling back on the stalk)?
Sorry, no, the high beams are not on. When I try to turn them on, pushing forward or backward, the lights go completely off.
Ok, but unless you have an aftermarket setup, the low beams should go off, when the high beams are on. If the high beam indicator in the instrument cluster does not illuminate either(when high beam is selected), then you either have an issue with the MFS, or associated wiring.
I checked the lights again this morning and I was wrong. When I pull the lever back, the lights just stay on low beam. They stay lit and there is no high beam indicator. Sorry about that guys.
Thanks Hot Wheels, will do. More ideas welcome as well!
Don't get distracted by those who throw out random "check the grounds" info, without explaining why.....
Not trying to give you a hard time bro, but what other ideas do you need? You have the schematics, and there are only two wires to each high beam bulb.....12 volts and ground. Use a meter, and start checking voltage and resistance to ground. That is the only way to isolate the issue.
same issue happened to me and it was the ground on the front fender well, that is where the problem is and i think there is only one ground for the light (on the fender well).
It certinally wouldn't hurt to turn on the light and shake the wires there and see if anything changes...sometimes a simplier answer is better then having enough informastion to rewire the electrical system...
