ok now I know that it is an air pump with a leaking check valve.
where do I look for them, under the hood or under the car.
I will get some carb cleaner and take care of this as soon as I can find the check valves location.
:
I am a pretty good with repairs once I get to the right part.

So what's the difference in the way the car tests and senses that causes a P1416 or a P0492? Both are for passenger (bank 2) AIR system fault.
None. The code changed in 2004, the test routine is the same.
Interesting ... I didn't know the codes changed in 2004. I guess as time goes on, more and more 2004+ Vettes will suffer from AIR check valve failures and we'll be seeing more P0492 codes along with the P1416 for the earlier models.
