What kind of cam should I be running? Specs?
Opinions welcome.
Thanks.
I already have the engine. It's currently in my Camaro. I'm swapping it to my Corvette. While it's out I'm thinking of changing the cam. Looking for general recommendations.
For nitrous, cams that have less exhaust overlap and more exhaust duration are best. However, it is best to choose a cam tailored to normal use (when nitrous is not activated) since 99% of most vehicle operations is not at full throttle. There are special cam grinds available for nitrous competition which have more aggressive exhaust profile ramping, etc. Since cam selection depends largely on vehicle weight, gearing, etc., it is best to stick to cam manufacturers' recommendations for your particular goal.
I would also get 3.90 or 4.10 gears put in and go with 1 7/8 LTH!
Go over to LS1tech forum and contact PatrickG. For $25 get it custom designed for your application. Pretty cost effective way to get the right cam as long as your plan is to purchase a new cam and not try to find one that may work for your application.
