Default Air filter

I am presently using a Fram Air Filter.
Other than the oil type (K&N) is there a better dry type than what I am using?

If youre all stock, then just use what you have been, or just an AC Delco filter. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Fram is a MUCH better air filter than K&M junk.

If you are keeping the stock setup, I don't think you can do any better then the GM filter. I wish I could get one for my aftermarket system.

S&B FILTERS (CA) has been making oil gauze filters for quite a few years. They make them for many of the after market sources of "cold air intakes". They're available in blue or red media w/ blue or red oil. They're available with chrome or varied color end caps. They'll custom build you a filter to your specs which won't cost much more than an off the shelf product.

They've just come out with a dry filter. You might check into that...

the amsoil air filters are the best for filtration. They are also the highest flowing dry filter you can get.

Is there a particular reason that you don't want to use an oil type filter such as Green, K&N, Blackwing, etc?

When cleaned according to AMSOIL specifications and used in normal service, AMSOIL Ea Air Filters are guaranteed for 100,000 miles or four years, whichever comes first. Ea Air Filters remain effective for 25,000 miles or one year before requiring cleaning.

you obviously didnt read the website.

Yep, I did. I doubt that any members will put on 25,000 miles a year for 4 years. The stock air filter is good for 30,000 miles (no time limit), lasts me 3 years !

(ps: i still use a K&N filter. just cant beat the air flow performance of a cotton filter)
