Unfortunately, you pay dearly for living up north:
Whereas.....
I think I'll put up with Jerry Brown if it means I get to drive my C5 in Southern California weather, thank you.
I crack up when someone from Southern Calif says the cost of living is more in the North.! Not correct! I lived in Huntington Beach Ca for years and the cost of living was through the roof! I also visit there every summer and nothing has changed. As for So Cal weather, Ill pass. I don't like to see the air I breathe, not to mention, the weather in Northern Calif and Southern Oregon is wonderful. Mild winters and rarely over 100 in the summer. We have a sign across the main street in Grants Pass that says.. "Grants Pass, It's the Climate".. Sooo true. Added bonus is, EVERYONE speaks ENGLISH!. Today, I filled my tank @ $2.89 a gallon. My guess is you are about @ $3.49.. Like I said, Ill pass. Actually, I HAVE TO drive my Vette in Calif weather every month, but I do it with Oregon License plates. Then I wave good bye as I head back up I-5 to God's Country!
By "pay", I meant by having to put up with cold winter temps and muggy summer weather. What you call "mild" temps are quite chilly compared to our winter temps. The air by the ocean here is always clear and the cost of energy to heat or cool a house is far less than in colder/warmer states.
I've been to many states and have chosen this one for many reasons. And while I don't blame anyone for choosing the state in which he or she lives, few people visit this area without agreeing it is one of the nicest in the country.
