I plan on replacing the shifter but re-using the same box, (base ). Will I need any new gaskits when I remove the shifter from the box or will the old one be re-usable? Also, will the cup bushing come off fairly easy without cracking? Thanks, Paul
Removing the shifter off its base with out damaging the rubber gasket is kinda hit & miss. Might want to have some very thin rubber handy, (a bout half the thickness of a bike inner tube)just in case you would need to manufacture one up.
In regards to the black plastic?,cup bushing. Just be carefull that you gently pull it off of the old shaft, to install onto the new. Perfect time to grease up the cup & shaft before install. Might want to grease all the pertinent areas in the hollow base while void of the shifter.
Check and snug up the 3 bolt heads of the base, while the shifter is out.
The bolt head requires a torx bit. # 40 I believe, but dont take my word.
Lay a rag between the bolt head & bit & firmly press down to make a snug fit. This will keep from wallowing out the recess of the bolt.
Good luck.
