It's heavy, somewhere over 100# but also awkward. I can pick it up and move it around, but walking funny. Two people can move it around almost effortless.
Should be cake for him. When I say "it's about the man", it's not just physical strength....but any limitations...bad back, etc. Considering what a turbo 400 and straight axle 12 bolt weights, every thing seems light to me on the modern cars.
Ls1tech has a sticky listing a lot of the parts on our cars that states what everything weighs. I think the above guy is right though no more than 150. I think that's about how much a whole trans weighs. Your son should have no problem

I've moved a few 700R4/4L60E trans around and in and out of my pickup. They are fairly heavy and awkward but just pull the converter out and one person can move it. Try and keep the back straight and the trans close to your body. Lift with your legs.
