Default Installed Halltech Killer Bee II

I installed the new Halltech intake over the weekend and wanted to post my results. 1st let me say I have a 402ci motor so this may not apply to a 346 car but just from sop it feels alot stronger.

It comes with the ls3/ls7 card style MAF in a 102mm air bridge, the opening at the filter is 107mm. Easily the largest air bridge out not to mention the smaller ls3 MAF inside a 102mm housing.

I used their MAF calibration and had to adjust it quite a bit to make it run well but after going over my MAF table a few times but it feels like a new car, runs sooo smooth and shreds the tires in 3rd. I dynoed 492rwhp with the old air bridge and a vararam and my tuner said there was a restriction before the TB, I am willing to bet it lays down over 500 with this new intake.

So far I would recommend it to any big cube NA guy looking to get max HP, you cant beat a 102mm MAF and 107mm filter housing. I also heard the ls3/ls7 MAF is a better design than the old LS1/LS6 style MAF. I will post dyno number and pics later.

Congrats. I've had the Halltech Stinger for many years, now and have always been impressed by its flow and filtering ability. I did configure my own CAI mod and have to clean the filter more often but the gains are worth it!

AHA! I'm getting ready to install (OK my tuner is going to install) the same unit on my Lingenfelter 346 engine. Can you give me a rough idea of how much you had to change the MAF table they hand out? I know mine won't be the same but the reference may be handy.

On my 1st pass I had to increase all cells roughly 27%. Over the next few passesit kept wanting to be increased but by much less, idea is to keep doing it untill you are within 1-2% change. Not sure what your 346 is gonna want but id be willing to bet it will need to be increases at least 20% across the board. The car barely ran with the initial settings. Good luck, once u smooth out the maf it will run great.

Is your car a stock hood?

I have a Fast 102 & a 102 TB hoping the intake you've mentioned is going to fit.

Good news on the smoother running!

Yea stock hood, the intake itself is 102mm where it meets the TB. It will be tough to squeeze the coupler over the TB but it will fit. This intake is absolutly perfect for everybody considering a 100mm maf, now u get it all in one package without having a smaller airbridge choking it down.

To me to vararam was great on my old cammed 346 set-up, but now with a larger motor the car was dropping kpa past 6,000rpm on the dyno. My tuner told me this was due to a choke before the TB, I figured with a 90mm TB and intake why choke it down with an 85mm MAF and a air bridge which tapers down to less than 80mm at both ends. Now I have 107mm at the filter and 102mm all the way to my 90mmTB, looks like a bigger intake and TB will be in my future.

Have you considered any way to allow some cooler air onto that cavity? Halltech has a nice shroud for the C6's, nothing for the C5's.
I ran a Venom on my previous 346 & I could watch the IAT's climb when stationary. No cold air coming in unless you are moving. Then it takes along time for the air transfer when you are moving.

My new build is showing a Vacuum problem @ 5600 rpm, using my existing ported 90mm TB & Venom Intake.

Thanks for the response I believe the LS3 all came with the 90mm throttle body so I can see the advantage!! I have been trying to figure out which one to buy so I appreciate it!!

Did you also install the beehive with your set up? Any validity to it?

I dont think they make a C5 beehive, if they did I would have it for sure.
