Default starter change, how?

I have a 2000 A4 with stock exhaust. Do I have to drop both sides of the exhaust to get the starter out? Can I just take the three bolts out where the manifold meets the exhaust and loosen the bolt at the first hanger? Do I have to remove the bolts on both sides where the exhaust meets the manifold?

Thank you for the replies and help.

The factory h-pipe is welded together....you cannot separate. It's cumbersome, but not a big deal.

it looks harder than it actually is, disconnecting and reconnecting the wires will likely be the most time consuming part of the whole ordeal. took me maybe 30 minutes in the dark using a drop light and flash light.

It's not too tough to do. Be careful with the oxygen sensors and their wires. Unclip them from their clip mounts around the tunnel plate after you unhook the connectors. Do not try to remove them from the exhaust pipes. Make sure you get them back up away from the pipes after you reinstall the header pipes. Good luck, Rod
