I too am curious about an LS6 intake. But to chime in on the question of why the 2001 only gains 5 hp from it and Nate's test vehicle gained nearly 17 hp from it might I suggest that the pairing of the LS6 intake along with the Donaldson Blackwing might yield greater results than the pairing of the LS6 intake and the factory air box. Just a suggestion. \

Also I'm sure the Borla exhaust might have helped a little. Just clearing out the bottle necks in the flow of things.
If all the mods were added at the same time, then I could buy the 17 hp gain, but the way I interpreted the message, they only changed to the LS6 intake which is given credit for the entire gain. That is what I find hard to buy. If you have ported heads and go from an LS1 to an LS6 intake, the added flow of the LS6 intake can be utilized by the ported heads. Hence a better then 5 hp gain would be expected.

I read in a post the other day that the 01-02 Ls1 and Ls6 intakes are the same... is this true? I saw this in the 4sale section where L.A.P.D replied to some one. Let me know...
Completely different... don't beleive everything you read here and do your research :yesnod:

I believe that you are wrong about the 01-02 Ls1 and Ls6 intakes being "Completely different". According to my parts CD they are the same. You are right though with your suggestion to "don't beleive everything you read here and do your research". cmb396 should do a search of the forum for "Z06 Intake manifold" and see that this question has been answered many times. :yesnod:

LS-1 and LS-6 are the same intake manifolds if you are talking about '01 and '02's...I think the greater increase in HP mentioned above was the LS-6 intake AND the Blackwing AND the Borla exhaust...that sounds about right for the 3...hope that clears SOME of this up... :chevy :seeya

That sounds about right. If my memory does me justice, the 01's got the LS6 intake and had a slightly modified cam from the old stock LS1 that provided
smoother low end torque. This is speculation but maybe the reason the gain was only 5 hp rather then the 7 you are experiencing with the earlier cam.
