I'm considering buying an aftermarket "solid" belt tensioner to replace the OEM spring tensioner. I drive hard but not competitively, and am not having squeaking problems. But 56K miles on car and see this as a PM I can do before I have problems. Though a few more bucks, I think the red Katech would look nice under my hood.
Any pros/cons other than price?
Thanks for your comments!

Other than it being unnecessary for your application.....go for it.
My car also has 56k miles on it and just two days ago my belt tensioner snapped and threw my belt... I've been looking into the solid belt tensioner and I think it's the way to go... Especially because I have squeaking issues And sometimes drive "hard" XD... But apparently the stock belt tensioners are crap so the solid tensioner really has no cons.
